Homescapes, Carmel Original Pieces One thing that Homescapes, Carmel buyers really know well is how to repurpose things. Repurposing is a matter of switching or eliminating purpose from an object and giving new life to something that would have been considered spent otherwise. Manhole cover tables, chimney planters, horse trough or watermill tables .. many items that we carry, Homescapes, Carmel had made into their current state.
This page is to give example to what kinds of things we make out of other things. Availability on these items is questionable, so if you see something you like, contact us and we'll check on availability.
The table pictured at left is made from a Chinese Manhole Cover. We had a base made and glass cut to fit. This piece is about 36" in circumference and retailed around $1200. These are completely one-of-a-kind pieces.

A Homescapes exclusive, we take hand-cranked water mills straight from the chinese countryside and re-imagine them into console tables.
Horse Trough Table Yup, you read that right. Every now and again we find an old horse trough that the buyers think would look great behind a sofa or in a foyer. With the right imagination, anything old can become new again.
When old Chinese gates have their original frames and hardware, we convert them into cabinets, either to stand alone or to inset into a wall. And when they don't have the original accoutrement, we strip 'em, flip 'em inside out, and go for the "modern" look.
