At Homescapes Carmel we strive to appeal to both the senses and the sensibilities of our customers and we encourage our customers to touch, explore and discover our one-of-a-kind items for themselves. As importers we have the thrill of finding unique items in their countries of origin and in their original condition with the beauty of their past lives still evident. It’s important to us that the customer’s feel that they, too, have "discovered" something rare and unique as they travel throughout our store.
At the risk of being overly-esoteric, the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi describes the perfection in imperfection and the beauty in found objects and Homescapes Carmel offers many items that have been re-purposed for a modern lifestyle with the aesthetic of wabi sabi in mind. Chinese water mills adapted into consoles, Indonesian carved window frames that become headboards and English chimney pots staged as planters are just a few of the ways we've brought new life to found objects. By combining botanicals and items fashioned from renewable resources such as bamboo Homescapes Carmel advocates the concept of “living green.”
At Homescapes Carmel we strongly believe in our product and never want a customer to feel they’ve been pressured into a purchase. Disappointment is a perpetually negative advertisement - nothing is worse than an unhappy customer who looks at an item they bought with regret.
And most importantly, we see Homescapes Carmel as a resource for our community, filled with ideas for our customers who open their minds to them.
