"Living Green"W
right Design partnered with Whole Foods to create a display that shows just how accessible “going green” can be. The room was set up at Whole Foods in Monterey on Saturday, April 22, 2006 and included samples of locally available materials and furnishings that are environmentally friendly from vendors such as Homescapes, Carmel and Whole Foods.
“We want people to see that going green can be done in a chic and stylish way,” says Lili Wright of Wright Design. “With an ever-increasing number of eco-friendly and healthy options becoming available, it’s easier than ever to create living and work spaces that enhance rather than undermine people’s health and the health of the planet.”
In addition to her design practice, Wright is the founder and co-chair emeritus of the US Green Building Council, Northern CA Chapter, Monterey Bay Committee. She is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of GreenHomeGuide.com, a web-based home remodeling resource for homeowners and she also serves on a number of other local non-profit boards.
You can easily achieve this kind of look for your interior by mixing texture and color while still using earth-friendly materials such as bamboo, shells, reclaimed copper, salvaged woods and architectural remnants. When mixed with plants & flowers, you can turn any space into a quiet reserve that breathes with the earth.
