as
a contemporary Western artist, I have always been fascinated by Eastern
traditions. In Western art negative space denotes a space that is not
painted or the space around a defined object. By contrast, Eastern art
values negative space or "open space" as positive, a moment
of mystery unfolding. Its silence, space and empty time are full of energy,
and what we associate to this energy is our own discover.
These works, on hand-made paper, are suggestions of the human spirit rather than statements.
