On January 21st, Homescapes Carmel was named Furniture
Store of the Year 2006, Western U.S. at the 17th Annual ARTS Awards
in Dallas, Texas. The ARTS Awards, presented
during the Dallas International Gift and Home Accessories Market by
the Accessories Resource Team, is the premier awards program for the
decorative accessories industry.
“We had no idea how big this event would be,”
Thompson Lange, Co-Owner of Homescapes, Carmel, comments. Keri Marion,
Thompson’s younger sister and part of the dedicated staff, agrees,
“There were presidents and CEOs from multi-million dollar companies
who flew in from all over the country vying for awards they didn’t
know they’d win, and then there was us...”
The ARTS Awards recognizes excellence from retailers,
manufacturers, sales representatives and designers in every region of
the United States and nominations are submitted by peers within the
industry. Thompson Lange accepted the award on behalf of the six-year-old
Carmel home furnishings store, which he owns and operates with his brother,
Beau. “This awards ceremony is WAY over the top!” shares
Thompson. “The presenters were people from Home Decorating television
shows. The set was huge with big movie screens and when the winner was
announced, big ol’ spotlights picked them out of the crowd, and
then followed to them to the stage with video cameras. Crystal awards
met each winner at the podium accompanied by some model babe! I’m
not kidding... it was surreal, like the Golden Globes.”
