The idea for Homescapes, Carmel literally began in a hole in the ground. In 1994, brothers Beau & Thompson Lange began converting a condemned historic laundry in Pacific Grove, CA that would house their first store, The Grove Homescapes.

Combining Beau’s degree in Horticulture with Thompson’s in Scenic Design, the brothers created a life-style store with plants, orchids and furnishings from around the world. The success of their first venture in retail led them to import directly to keep up with the demand.

In 1999 they expanded their business by opening Homescapes, Carmel in their hometown of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Homescapes, Carmel was named "Furniture Store, 2006, Western Region" for excellence in retail by the ARTS (Accessories Resource Team) Award Program in Dallas, Texas.

But that's not all....

Monterey County’s Weekly Readers voted Homescapes, Carmel Best Furniture Store four times: 2003, 04, 05 & 06; Home Accents Today named Homescapes, Carmel one of their 50 Shining Stars of Retail, and New York-based Gifts and Decorative Accessories Magazine has twice honored Homescapes, Carmel with their national Retailier’s Excellence Award for their Visual Merchandising and Promotion; and Homescapes was named Carmel’s Best Retail Store, 2004 by the Carmel Chamber of Commerce.
