They travel the world, so “you don’t have to…” But these chummy brothers from Central California love to bring the goods right back to their homeland.

The Lange brothers tape all their own commercials and help with editing themselves. At first they did this for economic reasons, but nowadays they just like to do it.

Homescapes Wins Icon Honors Award

On July 14th, the new Homescapes Carmel at Carmel Plaza was honored at the annual Icon Honors event in Atlanta, Georgia. The Icons were presented to members of the gift and home furnishings industry in the categories of Innovation, Contribution and Achievement, selected from a pool of submissions by more than 1,000 top retailers, manufacturers, product designers and sales representatives.

Homescapes Carmel, owned and operated by brothers Thompson and Beau Lange, was honored for Community Contribution for redeveloping the former Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store at Carmel Plaza, a 12,000-sq.-ft. space which had sat vacant for almost six years, transforming it from a dark, windowless store into a light-filled urban, deconstructed showroom. Built to LEED specifications, Homescapes Carmel shows its commitment to sustainability in both its storefront and product lines.

The new Homescapes Carmel has also been nominated for a Retailer Excellence Award in Store Design to be awarded in New York City on August 14th, 2011.

Art on the Monterey Peninsula is as abundant as ocean is to sand. We have a beautiful collection of emerging and established artists that show regualrly at Homescapes, Carmel.

To your right is a list of all artists either showing or have shown in the past. Artists that are currently on exhibit are marked with an * for your convenience.

If you have any questions on the availabiltiy of a piece, feel free to contact us. Some artists accept commissioned work, so even if you see something that almost strikes your fancy, let us know and we’ll do some contacting for you.

Homescapes Carmel is known for its parties, and our Grand Opening at Carmel Plaza on Friday, December 3rd was no exception. Now in our third decade of design, the new Homescapes is chic, hip and definitely an urban oasis in quaint and charming Carmel by-the-Sea, California.

We thank each and every one of you who came to our ribbon cutting (both physically and in spirit), helping us ring in the Holiday Season in our new home. We wish everyone a wonderful season filled with the gift of family and friends and thank you for making the Homescapes family feel welcome in our newest (and most favorite) location. We also sincerely thank you for your patience and loyalty while we built not only our new store, but also the newest incarnation of our website. Stillwell in the Park, 2010

Word on the sleet is that 2010 marks the final year of Stillwell’s Snow in the Park. A tradition in Pacific Grove since 1994, the snow in Caledonia Park has always relied on the magic of ice-crushers. And ice-crushers rely on the magic of money.

Will Frosty return next year? Who knows? But for the past 16 years Beau and Thompson have hit the “slopes” early to resurrect our chilly friend for the children of Pacific Grove, and on December 4th, perhaps for the last time, they brought him back to life.

Homescapes Home & Garden opened May 15th 2009 as the garden-inspired sister store of Homescapes Carmel. Located in Carmel’s charming Barnyard Shopping Village, Homescapes Home & Garden is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10-5. For more information, please call 831.624.6496 .

Homescapes Home & Garden is a new incarnation of the Homescapes International concept in store design and merchandising, an idea that literally began in a hole in the ground.

In 1994, brothers Beau & Thompson Lange began converting a condemned historic laundry in Pacific Grove, CA that would house their first store, The Grove Homescapes.

Combining Beau’s degree in Horticulture with Thompson’s in Scenic Design, the brothers created a life-style store with plants, orchids and furnishings from around the world. The success of their first venture in retail led them to import directly to keep up with the demand.

In 1999 they expanded their business by opening Homescapes Carmel in their hometown of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

The store has received local and national recognition for it’s products, design and community involvement. In 2006, 2007 ad 2010 Homescapes Carmel was named “Best Furniture Store, Western Region” for excellence in retail at the ARTS Awards in Dallas, Texas. ART (Accessories Resource Team) is an association of decorative accessory manufacturers, retailers, sales representatives and other professionals from throughout the United States who are dedicated to promoting excellence within the industry.

NOW OPEN at Carmel Plaza, Hale-Williams for Homescapes Carmel, our new, full-service Interior Design studio with award-winning designers Tom Williams and Robert Hale.

ABOUT OUR NEW DESIGNERS:

Robert K. Hale and Thomas L. Williams are the founders of Hale-Williams Interior Design,with offices in Carmel and Palm Springs, California. The pair have appeared on the popular television show Designers’ Challenge and in 2008 Hale-Williams Interior Design was named Design Firm of the Year by the Business Practices Network. In 2009 their first book “Starting Your Career as an Interior Designer” was published by Allworth Press, uncovering the real story about interior designers, how their firms are operated and how they deal with their clients.

The all-new Homescapes Carmel at Carmel Plaza, opening Summer 2010, will feature the award-winning style for which we-re known enhanced by an Assouline book store and a Tasting Room Cafe.
