From the Ground Up: The Grove Homescapes, Pacific Grove, California

The idea for Homescapes Carmel literally began in a hole in the ground. In 1994, brothers Beau & Thompson Lange began converting a condemned historic laundry in Pacific Grove, CA that would house their first store, The Grove Homescapes.

Combining Beau’s degree in Horticulture with Thompson’s in Scenic Design, the brothers created a life-style store with plants, orchids and furnishings from around the world. The success of their first venture in retail led them to import directly to keep up with the demand.

In 1999 they expanded their business by opening Homescapes Carmel in their hometown of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Ten years later in 2009, the Lange brothers opened their third incarnation of the Homescapes concept, Homescapes Home & Garden, in The Barnyard Shopping Village at the mouth of Carmel Valley.
